Somerset safe start: Help lives rebuild

One in four women will experience domestic abuse in their lifetime. For those who are able to leave, the journey to safety is often sudden—and they arrive at our refuges with nothing but the clothes they’re wearing. Imagine starting over without even a toothbrush, clean pyjamas, or a warm blanket.

At our safe houses across Somerset, we provide shelter and support to women and children escaping abuse. But we can’t do it alone. That’s where you come in.

How you can help our refuges in Somerset

We’re calling on local businesses, community groups, and individuals in Somerset to donate essential, unused items that can offer comfort and dignity to someone starting a new chapter.

Your donation could be the first act of kindness they receive on their journey to healing. We’re especially in need of:
Toiletries (shampoo, soap, toothpaste, etc.)

  • Sanitary products
  • New underwear (all sizes)
  • Pyjamas and loungewear
  • Bedding (duvet sets, pillows, blankets)
  • Kitchenware (cutlery, pans, mugs, etc.)
  • Non-perishable food items

Every item tells them: ‘You’re not alone

’Whether you’re a business with surplus stock or a resident who wants to make a difference, your support can help women and children feel safe, seen, and supported. If you can’t donate items, you can donate money that will go directly to the purchase of items.
