You and Me, Mum

At PARAGON Somerset, we’re proud to offer the You and Me, Mum course. You and Me, Mum is a 10-week programme designed to support mothers who have experienced domestic abuse. The course creates a safe, nurturing space where survivors can connect with others who have also parented through abuse and continue to do so as part of their healing journey.

What the course offers:

  • A compassionate environment to share experiences and build mutual support
  • Insight into how domestic abuse impacts parenting choices and relationships
  • Exploration of its effects on children, with tools to strengthen parent-child bonds
  • Practical resources and guidance to help rebuild confidence and empower parenting

This course isn’t just about education—it’s about connection, resilience, and hope.

A mother’s message of hope

One recent participant shared these words with the group, speaking to others who may be walking a similar path:

I just want to remind you of something important. The fact that you’ve lived through things that tried to break you and you’re still here, says more about your strength than words ever could.

What happened to you was never your fault, and it doesn’t define who you are. You’re not broken. You are rebuilding, and every single step forward, no matter how small, is powerful.

You are stronger than the hands or words that tried to hurt you. The courage it took to walk away, the strength it takes to heal, that’s what defines you. Your story isn’t over, it’s just beginning. And this time, it belongs completely to you.

Please don’t forget: You are brave. You are worthy of real love, especially your own. And you are never alone in this.
