Face to face counselling on IOW

We are delighted that our face-to-face counselling is now up and running on the Isle of Wight! Counselling is an important part of the support we offer our clients. Because it’s part of their journey from victim to survivor of domestic abuse.

Counselling gives you time and space to work through your problems. It helps you gain a different perspective on problems and issues. It provides a safe, non-judgemental and respectful environment, helping you to regain wellbeing and balance in your life.

Sometimes it’s easier to talk to a stranger than to relatives or friends. During talking therapy, our trained counsellor will listen to you and help you find your own answers to problems. Without judging you.

The therapist will give you time to talk, cry, shout or just think; whatever works for you. Having the sessions face-to-face, on a one-to-one basis with the counsellor allows them to read the client’s body language. This can help them to more clearly understand thoughts and feelings. This also ensures that any complex emotions are picked up, and no important details go unnoticed.

PARAGON support workers can refer their clients for counselling. This runs alongside practical and emotional support for current domestic abuse.

Support workers also act as advocates with housing, the legal system, police, education, and social care.

The team have lived, work and life experience that they use to help the people they work with. They work with women, men and children to offer support advocacy, advice, guidance and information.
